The Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA) is a national non-profit, non-partisan Latino organization affiliated with the American Federation of Labor-Council of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO). It was formed in 1973 to provide Latino union members in the U.S. with a more effective voice within the labor movement and to be the bridge between the Latino community and organized labor. In essence, we are the Latino House of Labor.
The Pittsburgh chapter of LCLAA was officially chartered in 2014. Its primary mission is to bring organized labor and community organizations that serve Latino working families together around the common goal of advancing the social and economic well-being of Southwestern Pennsylvania's growing Latino community. We've worked closely with Casa San Jose almost since our founding and we're proud to support the extensive work Casa does to support Latino immigrant families in our area. Net proceeds of this year's QUE VIVA CLEMENTE fundraiser will go entirely to supporting the work Casa does to assist families impacted by ICE detention.
